Labiaplasty (Vaginal Rejuvenation)

Many women experience elongated or enlarged labia minora (the female genitalia “lips”). This can be quite uncomfortable in daily life. When you are in constant pain and discomfort, it can be difficult to participate in certain physical activities and fully enjoy life. Unfortunately, many women continue to suffer from enlarged labia minora because they do not know there is a fix out there for them. Also, many women feel embarrassed to even discuss this with their doctors.

What Is Labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty is a type of vaginal rejuvenation surgery that reduces the size of the labia minora (the inner “lips” of the vulva). This procedure provides women with smaller, more attractive inner labia so they can feel more comfortable and confident.

Am I a Candidate for Labiaplasty?

You may be a candidate for labiaplasty if your enlarged labia minora are getting in the way of living your life comfortably. Enlarged labia minora can cause pain and discomfort during sex, exercise, and other routine activities.

If the size of your labia minora is uncomfortable, painful, or causing you to be self-conscious, labiaplasty surgery may be right for you.

Generally, Labiaplasty Candidates:

  • Are at least 18 years old
  • Are in generally good health

To determine if you are a candidate for this vaginal rejuvenation procedure, please schedule a consultation with Dr. Steve Yu.

What Can I Expect During My Labiaplasty Consultation?

During your consultation, Dr. Yu will discuss your goals for the procedure and answer any questions you may have. He may also perform a physical evaluation to determine if vaginal rejuvenation is right for you.

After you are confirmed as a candidate, your surgeon will create a personalized surgical plan.

What Does a Labiaplasty Consist Of?

Labiaplasty surgery can be performed using the trim or wedge method. Dr. Yu will determine the most appropriate method for you based on your needs and goals.

The trim method is most commonly used for this procedure. This technique removes excess tissue from the outer part of the labia and trims it to a more pleasing, comfortable size. This method also eliminates the dark labial edges to leave you with a pink, youthful appearance.

What Type of Anesthesia Is Used for Labiaplasty?

Your surgery will likely be performed using general anesthesia to ensure your comfort. Please plan to have someone there to drive you home after surgery.

What Is the Recovery From Labiaplasty Like?

Rest is extremely important during your recovery from labiaplasty. For the first few days following your surgery, you should avoid all strenuous physical activity and spend most of your time resting. Please plan to take adequate time off work and other responsibilities in order to recover properly. Generally, women can return to work after a week, but this will vary.

You may experience pain and discomfort for the first week or so. Over-the-counter or prescription pain medication can be taken as needed to keep you comfortable.

It will be important to follow all post-operative instructions provided to you by Dr. Yu.

When Can I Have Sex After Labiaplasty?

After your labiaplasty, you are advised to avoid sexual activity for at least four weeks to allow for proper healing. However, this may be longer for some women.

We understand that you may be eager to show your results to your partner or enjoy intercourse without painful, enlarged labia. However, having sex too soon after vaginal rejuvenation surgery can be painful and disrupt your healing.

Please speak to Dr. Yu regarding when it will be safe for you to resume sexual activity.

What Results Can I Expect After Labiaplasty?

After surgery, you should expect smaller, more pleasing and attractive labia minora. Sex will be more comfortable, and exercise should not be painful.

Results will be visible immediately. However, you may need to wait for swelling and bruising to subside before experiencing full results.

Will My Labiaplasty Results Be Permanent?

Labiaplasty results are intended to last a lifetime.

How Much Does Labiaplasty Cost?

The cost of labiaplasty will depend on the amount of correction needed and the specific techniques used. Your vaginal rejuvenation cost will also depend on surgeon fees, operating room fees, and anesthesia fees.

During your labiaplasty consultation, you will receive an estimated financial plan based on your needs and goals for the procedure.

What Other Vaginal Rejuvenation Procedures Are Offered?

Many women seeking labiaplasty surgery are interested in other surgical procedures for vaginal rejuvenation as well.

Other vaginal rejuvenation procedures offered include:

Please speak with Dr. Yu if you believe you can benefit from any of these vaginal rejuvenation procedures.
